When to consult

  • Gradual blurring of vision, glare or halos around lights (suspected cataract or glaucoma)
  • Sudden shower of floaters, flashes of light, visual field curtain or distorted central vision
  • Red/painful eye, stye/chalazion, chronic dry eyes or tearing
  • Diabetic retinopathy screening or childhood myopia control

Pre-consultation checklist

  • Pupil dilation drops blur near vision and increase light sensitivity for 4–6 hours; bring sunglasses and do not drive after the appointment
  • Bring your current spectacles, contact lens prescription and any eye drops in use
