When to consult

  • Chest pain, tightness or pressure during exertion (suspected angina or coronary artery disease)
  • Recurrent palpitations, irregular heartbeat, unexplained dizziness or syncope
  • Shortness of breath on exertion, ankle swelling or orthopnoea
  • Uncontrolled hypertension/cholesterol or family history of premature heart disease requiring cardiac screening

Pre-consultation checklist

  • Bring recent blood test results (lipid profile, glucose, renal function), ECGs, and CT/echocardiogram reports
  • Prepare a 1–2 week home blood pressure and pulse log (morning and evening readings)
  • Bring a complete list of current medications (antihypertensives, blood thinners, statins) and dosages
  • Note the timing, duration, triggers and relieving factors of chest discomfort or palpitations
